Chris Gollon is one of the most popular and richest British artist who was born on January 14, 1953 in London, England, United Kingdom. As of June 1, 2023, Chris has a net worth approximately $5 Million. An unplanned meeting during 2005 among Chris Gollon and filmmakers JABOD was the catalyst for the development of a neologism and the creation of a brand new cinematic work: “Kaleidomorphism One”. Fiveteen years of Gollon’s art and images, along with music he’s chosen (including Calexico and Paolo Conte) are paired with JABOD’s design, rhythm , and effects to make a film installation that runs for 20 minutes. Kaleidomorphism One premiered at the East End Film Festival in the year 2008.

in 1989 Gollon made it to the finals of The Spectator Prize. The first exhibition of his solo in a museum was held at the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull in 1993. It was at the time Museum Gallery of the Year. The show was broadcast by BBC Look North. Chris Gollon was a friend of The Skids and enjoyed the presence of the musicians. The year 1998 was the time he participated together with David Bowie, Yoko Ono and Gavin Turk in ‘ROOT’ which was conceived in collaboration with Thurston Moore, the founder of Sonic Youth, a crossover show of art and music from the present in the Chisenhale Gallery, London. In ‘ROOT’, Thurston Moore gave Gollon an audio recording of 52 seconds and asked him to create or create a piece of music or art in the response. Gollon painted “House of sleep” in the exhibition ‘ROOT that marked the beginning of his 19 year exploration of artistic boundary crossing and how one artistic form can be used to open up new realms of thinking and experience, and the reverse is true. The painting ‘House of sleep’ was became an individual collection in 1998, however it was loaned out for the museum’s retrospective in the year 2019 at the Huddersfield Art Gallery, in the catalogue. Thurston Moore stated that “Chris Gollon’s work moves beyond painting as singular expression, where music and its essence of spiritual sentience, comes into accord, creating a personal yet welcoming environment, alive and free. I am proud to have had a moment where we colluded via the gestures of mutual acquaintance. His creative and modest genius is eternal.”

In 2001, an exhibit of his work was presented within the River and Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames since, until the year 2005, Gollon was connected to the river, having an studio at Platts Eyot, a private island in the River Thames near Hampton Court west of London. The museum, supported through the Victoria and Albert Museum, bought a piece by Gollon named Big Fish Eat Little Fish that was the main focus of the exhibit.

The artwork depicting the 4th Station of the Cross (Jesus meets his Mother) was featured in the exhibit Presence The Images of Christ for the Third Millennium in St Paul’s Cathedral in 2004 alongside artworks of Bill Viola, Tracey Emin, Maggi Hambling and Craigie Aitchison. The following year, he started painting pictures from Albert Einstein, before the 50th anniversary of Einstein’s passing in 2005 and prior to the centenary celebration in the year 2005, of Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity. In part, influenced by a lyric from Bob Dylan’s ballad “Desolation Row”, Chris Gollon created “Einstein & The Jealous Monk”. The painting was then bought at Huddersfield Art Gallery. Huddersfield Art Gallery in West Yorkshire which is where it now hangs inside the collection of the Museum, alongside Sir Jacob Epstein’s statue of Einstein as well as paintings of Francis Bacon, Walter Sickert, Henry Moore and L.S. Lowry.
